How Alien Task collects, uses, and protects information. Last updated August 2026.

This policy explains what Alien Task (“we”, “us”) does with information when you visit alientask.io or use the Alien Task application at app.alientask.io. It applies to both the marketing site and the product.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you create or join a workspace we also record your role within it.

Workspace content

This is the material you and your team put into the product: projects, tasks, subtasks, due dates, assignments, comments, and file attachments. You control this content; we store and process it to provide the service.

Technical information

We record standard technical data needed to operate and secure the service — IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps of requests — along with error diagnostics when something fails.

2. How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, and secure the Alien Task service.
  • To generate AI outputs you explicitly request, such as project breakdowns, discussion briefings, and delivery forecasts.
  • To send service communications: security notices, changes to terms, and account-critical updates.
  • To diagnose faults, prevent abuse, and investigate security incidents.
  • To understand aggregate product usage so we can improve it. This analysis uses aggregated and de-identified data.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share workspace content with advertisers.

3. AI processing

When you invoke an AI feature, the relevant task, project, or discussion content is transmitted to our model provider solely to generate that response. We do not permit this content to be used for training third-party foundation models. AI features act only on content you submit through an explicit action in the product.

4. Workspace isolation and access

Every workspace is scoped to its own organization identifier and that scope is enforced on data access. Within a workspace, what a person can see is governed by their assigned role. Workspace administrators can view and manage the content of the workspaces they administer. Technical detail is on the security page.

5. Sub-processors

We rely on third-party providers to run the service, including cloud hosting and database infrastructure, AI model providers for copilot features, and transactional email delivery. Each is bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. Write to [email protected] for the current sub-processor list.

6. Retention

Workspace content is retained while your account is active. On deletion of a workspace or account, records are removed from production systems, with residual copies ageing out of encrypted backups on the standard retention cycle. Some records are kept longer where required by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents additionally have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and equivalent storage that are necessary to operate the service — keeping you signed in, remembering your active workspace, and protecting against fraudulent requests. Blocking these will prevent the application from functioning correctly.

9. International transfers

Alien Task operates internationally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Children

Alien Task is a business product and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product notice before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will be revised.

12. Contact

Questions about this policy or about how your data is handled go to [email protected].
